At PawSentry, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you visit our website (www.pawsentry.com), use the PawSentry mobile app, and use the PawSentry tracker. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect different types of personal data to provide you with the best possible experience, including:

A. Information You Provide to Us

Personal details (name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses).
Payment information (processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full card details).
Account details (if you create an account, we store your login credentials securely, or a sign-in token if you use Google, Apple, or Facebook login).
Pet profiles (pet name, breed, photo, and related details you enter).
Customer support inquiries (information provided when you contact us for help).

B. Automatically Collected Information

Precise location data (GPS) from your pet's tracker and, where you allow it, from your phone. This is the core function of the service.
Pet activity and wellbeing data from the tracker (for example steps, rest, vocalisation, and resting heart rate). This relates to your pet, not to you.
Device information and identifiers (including a push notification token), and diagnostic data such as crash and performance reports.
Website device and browser information (IP address, operating system, browser type, and usage data).
Cookies and similar technologies on the website (to enhance user experience and analyse performance).

C. On-Device Microphone Processing

The tracker contains a microphone used only to detect your pet's vocalisations for activity insights. Audio is processed on the device, is never transmitted to the app or our servers, is never stored, and is deleted immediately after analysis.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

To operate core features (live location, geofencing and home zones, history, activity and wellbeing insights, and alerts).
To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
To process and fulfil orders, manage subscriptions, and handle recurring payments.
To send push notifications and service messages you have enabled.
To provide customer support.
To diagnose crashes, improve stability, and keep the service secure.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and conditions.

3. Where Your Data Is Stored and Who We Share It With

Our own infrastructure (European Union). Your account, pet profiles, location history, wellbeing data, and pet photos are stored on servers we operate and host within the EU. We do not store this core data with outside companies.

Third-party services. We share the minimum data necessary with the following providers:

Stripe (payments): processes your payment and billing details to take payments and manage subscriptions. We do not store full card numbers.
Firebase, a Google service (authentication, push notifications, and crash reporting).
Google (Maps for displaying maps, and Google Sign-In if you use it).
Apple (Sign in with Apple, if you use it).
Meta Platforms / Facebook (Facebook Login only, if you use it). We have disabled Facebook's automatic app-event logging and advertising-identifier collection, so we do not use Facebook for advertising or cross-app tracking.

We may also disclose data to legal authorities where required by law, and to a successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Tracking and Advertising

PawSentry does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising, and we do not share your data with data brokers or ad networks. Any prompt asking permission to track is used only to keep your pet's activity data associated with your account across sessions.

5. International Transfers

We host your core data (account, pets, location) on servers in the European Union. Some of the providers listed above may process limited data outside the EU. In those cases we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Location history is retained to provide the history feature and is removed on the schedule described in the app or on request. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons.

7. Data Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, secure credential storage on your device, access controls, and EU-based hosting. No online service is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.

8. Your Rights and Choices

If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request correction or deletion of your data.
Restrict or object to how we process your data.
Withdraw consent at any time.
Request data portability (where applicable).

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@pawsentry.com. You can also delete your account from within the app. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Children

PawSentry is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, and significant updates will be communicated via email or website notifications.
